Teachers and families often reach out to support our students. However, such needs are not always easily addressed. When typical strategies are not found to be effective, support can be obtained from a diverse group of educational professionals through the TAPS process. Problem solving through a collaborative process of this nature is based upon the premise that support planning is most effective when needs are thoroughly investigated and appropriate interventions are put in place.

Students can be referred to the TAPS process by any concerned individual. Concerns are often academic in nature, but may also be specific to personal adjustment and social development. The TAPS process typically consists of individuals including classroom teachers, resource teachers, guidance staff, the school psychologist, and the building principal. Parents are encouraged to participate. Once a referral is received, a meeting is scheduled to investigate needs and to develop a plan of action.

If you have a concern regarding your child, please complete a referral form and submit it to the office or to your child’s teacher. You may wish to meet with your child’s teacher to complete the form as thoroughly as possible
