As we embark on this Adventure of Learning together and excitement builds, I am thrilled to welcome you all back to another wondrous year here at Ettrick Elementary! Imagine a year filled with discoveries, new friendships, and exciting challenges that will spark your curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
Just like explorers setting off on a grand adventure, we are ready to navigate through the wonders of reading, the mysteries of math, the stories of history, and the marvels of science together as we conquer our mission of Learning for all, learning for life. Our staff is dedicated to Every Student, Every Day, guiding you to conquer challenges, reach new milestones, and grow into the incredible individuals you are meant to be. So, buckle up and get ready for the ride of a lifetime!
Remember, just like in any adventure, there may be challenges and obstacles along the way, but with determination, perseverance, and a little bit of teamwork, there's nothing we can't overcome together. We look forward to seeing you at Open House on Wednesday, August 21st from 2-6:00pm. You’ll get to meet your teacher, take your school photo, and finish any registration paperwork. Remember to bring your checkbook to make milk payments, lunch payments, and/or iPad insurance.
On behalf of our Ettrick Elementary Staff, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all our returning students and a heartfelt greeting to all our new adventurers joining us this year. Together, we can ensure that every student thrives and enjoys the journey of learning!
So, pack your curiosity, bring your enthusiasm, and get ready for a year filled with exploration and discovery. The Adventure of Learning awaits and we are thrilled to have you with us!
With great excitement,
Mrs. Bawek

First Days
For the first 3 days of school (August 27, 28, 29) parents will be able to walk their children to their classroom, but must exit the building by 7:50am when the bell rings to go to classes. After September 2nd, parents will need to drop students off at the door. This is a procedure to ensure safety in our building. If you need to speak to a teacher or staff member, please contact them to set up a time. If this meeting will occur before school please sign in at the office before meeting the staff member.
Students in 4K will come at their assigned orientation time on the 27th and then attend for their morning session beginning on the 28th.
Drop Off
For drop off in the morning, if you are transporting your own child, please note that the earliest we have supervision is 7:30am. Be prepared to drop your student(s) off on the side of the school closest to the intersection of Washington and State St. All students will go directly to the playground upon arrival. The breakfast bell rings at 7:40am for students who are choosing to eat breakfast at school. Mrs. Reincke will be waiting to help. Students will report to their classrooms at 7:55am to start the school day.
Pick Up
All students are dismissed at 2:55pm.
Students grades K-2 will leave out the office doors while students grades 3-5 will leave out the North End
Wednesdays
All students are dismissed at 2:25pm.
After care option hosted at Galesville Elementary until 5:30pm (cost associated & transportation to After Care is provided)
Launch Days
These facilitate a smooth opening and allow students practice with routines and learning in a smaller group. We will again have half the students attend on August 27th and the other half on August 28th. If you are a family that has children with different last names, please contact us and we will arrange that they attend the same day.
August 27 - Students with last names starting with A-K attend. 4K students attend at designated orientation time.
August 28 - Students with last names starting with L-Z attend. 4K students attend at designated orientation time.
August 29 - All students return to school together, including ALL 4K students.
Wednesdays
Students will be dismissed at 2:25pm to allow for teacher professional development. If you need child care, please consider signing up for programming with After Care (K-4). Students will be transported to Galesville Elementary for this opportunity. Please contact Jamie Thill, our building secretary for more information.
Snow Days/Weather Early Out Plan
Please be sure your plan for what your child should do in the event of an early out is shared with your child’s teacher. Weather related closing announcements are done through our automated calling system so please make sure any changes in your phone number are shared with the office and up to date in PowerSchool.
Birthdays & Celebrations
If your child is having a party and inviting the entire class (or all the boys or girls in the class) you can send your invites to school to go in student mailboxes. In all other cases, please do not send them to school to be distributed. This causes hurt feelings for those not invited.
Birthday and snacks for celebration are welcome but must be store bought. This allows us to ensure ingredients and limit transmission of germs.
School Supplies
These will again be provided by the district. Please bring a backpack, headphones, and a water bottle (pre-filled) to school. Your classroom teacher may request a few additional items in their back to school letter.
Meals
Lunch payments can be made by sending cash or check to the office or by paying online through PowerSchool (fee associated). Breakfast will be served in our lunchroom from 7:40 - 7:50 am for those students who are interested. If you might qualify for free and reduced lunch, please contact Melody Schorbahn at melodyschorbahn@getschools.k12.wi.us for paperwork.
Communication
I encourage you to maintain an open line of communication with your child's teachers and school staff. Share any concerns or triumphs, and together, we will ensure that your child receives the best possible education and support.
All messages regarding pickups should be sent to the teacher and office. All messages should be communicated no later than 2:30pm to allow for efficient delivery on weekdays. On Wednesdays, communication should be sent no later than 2:00pm. Email the office at jamiethill@getschools.k12.wi.us or call at 608-525-4571.
Stay informed by checking out our Facebook page and your emails. NEW Downloading the GET Schools App is also very helpful. It will provide you with additional alerts, live feeds, news, events, etc. along with automated phone calls and text messages.
Mrs. Bawek sends out a weekly newsletter with important information and fun photos from EE. If you are not receiving this, please check your SPAM filters and your email address on PowerSchool. If you still can not see those emails, reach out to the office for support as this is our main form of communication throughout the year.
